Planting Instructions:

      • Location:Plant Bitterroot in a location with full sun and well-drained, rocky soil. Avoid planting in areas with heavy clay or poorly drained soil.
      • Planting:Sow Bitterroot seeds directly into the garden in early spring, as soon as the soil can be worked. Press the seeds lightly into the soil surface and keep them consistently moist until germination occurs.
      • Spacing:Space Bitterroot plants about 6 to 12 inches apart.
      • Care:Once established, Bitterroot requires minimal care. Water sparingly, as it is drought-tolerant and prefers dry conditions. Avoid overwatering, as it can cause root rot. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage additional blooming and prevent self-seeding if desired.
