Planting Instructions:

      • Location: Full sun to partial shade. Peonies prefer at least six hours of sunlight daily.
      • Planting: Rich, well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter. Peonies prefer slightly alkaline soil.
      • Care: Plant bare-root peonies in fall. Dig a hole wide enough to accommodate the roots, placing the eyes (buds) 1-2 inches below the soil surface. Space plants about 3 feet apart.
      • Watering: Water thoroughly after planting and keep soil consistently moist, especially during the first growing season. Once established, water deeply but infrequently.
      • Maintenance: Mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Support heavy blooms with stakes or hoops. Cut back foliage to the ground in fall after it has died back. Divide clumps every 3-5 years to prevent overcrowding.
